How does escrow work?
The money is held by a public smart contract until the work is approved.
When a client funds a milestone, a purchase or a challenge prize, the USDC goes into the Vibers escrow contract on Base. It’s a small public program on the blockchain, not a Vibers bank account, and it can only ever pay the buyer or the seller (plus the fee).
- Funded: the money is held. The maker can see it’s there before starting.
- Delivered: the maker marks the work as delivered.
- Review: the client approves, which pays the maker straight away. If the client does nothing for 7 days after delivery, it releases automatically. Paid downloads have a 3-day window.
- Problem? The client can raise it during the review window and the money stays put until it’s sorted. See Raising a problem.
Every step shows in the order panel beside your conversation, with links to the transactions.
